The Veterans Memorial Bridge connecting Mankato and North Mankato is expected to reopen to traffic by 1 p.m. Saturday, October 31st, according to MnDOT.
The bridge has been closed since February 3rd for major repairs and improvements, including new pavement, sidewalks, ramp configurations and traffic signals.
The project also included improvements to the Belgrade Avenue Bridge over Highway 169.
MnDOT says the bridge carries more than 20-thousand vehicles each day. The work was completed through a partnership between state and local agencies using local, state and federal funding.
A public ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday on the bridge.
Some work will continue after reopening, including installation of ornamental railings and a large overhead sign. Drivers should expect occasional lane closures in the coming weeks.
The project was originally expected to extend into 2027, but crews are working to complete as much of the work as possible this year.
