WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Republican U.S. Senate candidate Michael Whatley visited Wilmington on Friday, Oct. 30 as part of his statewide “Get Out the Vote” tour, making a final push to mobilize supporters just days ahead of Election Day.

Whatley urged voters to turn out during the final hours of early voting and on Election Day.

During his campaign stops in southeastern North Carolina, which also included a visit to Lumberton to meet with members of the Lumbee Tribe and local supporters, Whatley outlined plans aimed at reducing taxes and everyday living expenses.

Whatley also heavily focused on public safety and law enforcement support.

“When it comes to crime, I’m going to back the blue,” Whatley said. “I’m going to work every single day with law enforcement, with our sheriffs, and and police officers across the state, and make sure that they have the support that they need in order to keep our community safe.”

In-person early voting in North Carolina concludes Saturday at 3 p.m. Polls reopen on Election Day at 6:30 a.m.
