COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A driver was killed after a crash Saturday morning near Pikes Peak State College, police said.
The Fountain Police Department (FPD) said it happened around 7:30 a.m. on South Academy Boulevard near the east entrance of the school. The department said its Major Crash Unit took over the investigation "due to the nature of the crash."
FPD said investigators believe a Cadillac and a Ford F-150 were going east on South Academy when the Cadillac stopped at the traffic signal. The truck crashed into the Cadillac, leading both vehicles to come to a stop.
Police said the driver of the Cadillac died at the scene.
Investigators are looking into whether "driver distraction," speeding and alcohol impairment played a role in the crash, police said.
No other details were released.
