A 15-year-old boy has been charged with murder after he choked his father to death at their home in west Harris County, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a home in the 21400 block of Sagrantino Court around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
When deputies arrived, they found 35-year-old Samson Hernandez unresponsive. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the home to investigate.
According to investigators, Hernandez was involved in an altercation with his wife’s boyfriend. During the confrontation, Hernandez’s 15-year-old son intervened and placed his father in a chokehold until law enforcement arrived.
Detectives presented the findings to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, which later approved a murder charge against the teenager.
The 15-year-old was booked into the Harris County Juvenile Center without incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
